When is Mardi Gras?

Mardi Gras can fall on any Tuesday between February 3 and March 9. By tradition the celebration starts on January 6 , the Twelfth Night of Christmas , known as the Feast of Epiphany and continues until midnight on Mardi Gras (fat Tuesday) the day before Ash Wednesday.
How will you know which Tuesday it will be ? Mardi Gras is always 40 days plus 6 Sundays before Easter. Easter can fall on any Sunday from March to April 25 , with the exact date to coincide with the first Sunday after the full moon following a spring equinox ! There you have it ! How to determine when Mardi Gras is. If you are still confused , just get a calendar and look to see when Ash Wednesday is , and the day before is Mardi Gras.
